A Cataract is any clouding of the lens inside the eye. This can be seen as the clouding in the center of the pupil to the right. When this clouding affects the vision significantly, surgery is needed to restore vision. We will help you decide when it is time to have the surgery, get you to the best surgeon, and help you with your glasses needs after your surgery.

Cataract Surgery is performed by making a small incision and by inserting a probe that vibrates thousands of times per second and brakes up the lens while another tiny vacuum sucks out this debris. This procedure is known as Phacoemulsification and is quick and painless.

A Lens Implant is placed in the eye after the cloudy lens is removed an artificial lens is inserted into the eye in the original lens capsule.

Some people see so well after surgery that they do not need glasses full time. There is even a Multi-focal lens implant now available that allows most  people to see distance and even read without glasses, however, this lens is not usually covered by insurance.

A cataract can not grow back but the original capsule can become cloudy and affect vision. If this occurs then a simple laser procedure, a Capsulotomy needs to be done.
